Zarko Zrenjanin is a public co-educational primary school in Novi Sad, Serbia. It is big and located in an urban residential area of Novi Sad, the second-largest city in Serbia.
The school has 1370 pupils aged 7 to 15 divided between 50 classes in 8 grades. The students are taught and cared for by 97 teachers, 9 members of non-teaching staff, administration and school management. There are 11 classrooms (grades 1 – 4) and 18 subject classrooms (grades 5 – 8), a library, an outdoor summer classrooms, 2 gyms (small and big), 3 ICT classrooms, a big cafeteria, a big yard at the back of the school with football and basketball courts, a sandpit, and a running track.
It is technically well equipped (62 desktop and 31 laptop computers, 41 plasma TVs and 6interactive whiteboards). Mobile devices have not been used as regular teaching devices so far.
The teaching is organized in two shifts and the first and second-grade students can attend after-school daycare. From grades 1 to 4 they are taught by a single class teacher, teacher of English and religious education and from grades 5 to 8 they are taught by different 10 to 15 subject teachers depending on the grade. Pupils can choose to attend one of 26 after school clubs, 11 extracurricular activities and additional lessons for all subjects. They also have an opportunity to pick a sport or music lessons for a small fee as well as free chess lessons.
